Tiger shot dead due to pressure of local people in Kerala

In a mockery of wildlife conservation in India, Kerala forest department had shot dead a male tiger in Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary on 2 December 2012 by declaring animal as dangerous to human lives due to pressure of local people and politicians. This animal was not attacked any human beings but only killed livestock for its survival. Since last few weeks when the issue of cattle lifting started, even local media and politicians supported the idea of villagers "eliminating the tiger". It's very clear that Kerala govt. was not followed the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) guidelines on Section 11 (1) (a) of Wildlife Protection Act 1972 (Declaring big cats as man eaters).

Please read the guidelines here: http://projecttiger.nic.in/Guideline/Guidelines_%20bigger_catS_%20man.pdf

Sad that this unfortunate incident was occurred in an educated state like Kerala.
