Burmese poachers a threat to general public in Anadaman & Nicobar

Local M.P, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray pointed out that intrusion of Burmese poachers in North Andaman as well as in Campbell Bay Islands have become a major threat for the General Public. Mr. Aurobindo Halder, a villager from Gopal Nagar of Diglipur, who was also present during the press conference alleged that Burmese poachers have till now attacked and injured 10 people, including a police man, in his village. “They take away our boats and create nuisance in our village. Deer poachers sentenced to 3 years imprisonment in Rajasthan

On 28 May 2012, a local court in Gharsana, Sri Ganganagar district of Rajasthan had convicted three persons for a case registered on deer poaching in June 2001 and sentenced them to three years imprisonment and Rupees three thousand fine.

319 snares seized in 3 months in Andhra Pradesh

17 Nilgais poisoned near Gir in Gujarat

18 poachers arrested, confessed that tiger killed in Shivpuri

Madhya Pradesh forest department arrested 18 poachers from Panna, Chindwara, Katni and Shivpuri districts on 25th and 26th May 2012. Different kinds of poaching tools and vehicles were seized from them. Accused arrested from Shivpuri confessed to killing an adult tiger and having sold its skin to three persons in the district.

Three tigers suspected to have killed by poachers in Uttar Pradesh

Three tigers found dead in last four days in Pilibhit and Lakhimpur-Kheri districts of Uttar Pradesh. Two tiger deaths were reported from Haripur Range, Pilibhit district on 24th and 25th of May 2012. Suspected that animals were poisoned by poachers. Proposal for declaring Pilibhit tiger reserve is still pending with authorities. On 27th May, third tiger found dead in Kishanpur Sanctuary under Dudhwa tiger reserve in neighboring Kheri district with injuries.

Every tiger death will treat as poaching unless otherwise proved

On 21 May 2012 National Tiger Conservation Authority of India had issued a directions on reporting of tiger and leopard deaths to all chief wildlife wardens of tiger range states. It states that every case of tiger and leopard death would be henceforth treated as a case of 'poaching', unless otherwise proved beyond reasonable  doubt.

Body parts of tiger found in Chandrapur, Maharashtra

An unconfirmed report received today (18 May 2012) morning that several body parts of an adult tiger found scattered in forest area near Chandrapur without head and paws. Incidently two days back Maharashtra government had issued a red alert against tiger poachers. Last month two tigers were caught in iron trap in buffer zone of Tadoba tiger reserve, one was died and another rescued but its toes were amputated later.
